Empowering women through Organic Kitchen Garden

BOSCO Delhi focuses on continuous growth and development of their target group, be it children, youth, women or any group in their purview of work. To accomplish this we conduct a number of motivational programs, awareness sessions, skill related programs, medical camps, and the like. Similarly, in the Organic Kitchen Garden project we have focused on programs and sessions for women and their empowerment. One of the major success of our work is we have formed more than 700 SHGs in the Chotanagpur area; and because of our intervention today, the women in these areas are contributing financially to their families.

Through the OKG (Organic Kitchen Garden) project, we have organized two days' workshop for the women to have exposure and practical experience in kitchen gardening as well as farming. Under the guidance of Fr. Vincent Toppo, sdb, around 300 women have undergone this training to understand a better way of cultivating for higher production as well as how organically they can cultivate vegetables for their family.

Most of the men and women are working in the field, and they felt it was a wonderful experience for them to be able to participate in such informative sessions that empowered them to cultivate in a better manner with the utilization of modern equipment and methods.
