In its partnership with DIMOS COMIDE, BOSCO has developed a unique approach to social development in its project area of Chattisgar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Punjab, Delhi, Utter Pradesh and Haryana. Various linkages and net working with NGOs and other government organizations has been established over this period.
BOSCO -GTZ collaboration: BOSCO with GTZ collaboration from January 2004 to December 2007, focused on the development of competency oriented modular short tem training courses, which reflect the demand in the informal sectors. This leads to the shaping and defining the approaches for extending vocational training to the school leavers/dropouts, enabling the target group to make better use of economic opportunities and resources. This venture, initiated at Don BOSCO Yuva Kendra, Najafgrah, resulted in the preparation of 23 modular curricula, reaching out to women and girls in 10 outreach centers. Capacity building for the staff has been a great source of help in the field of skill training. Efforts are still on in the area of capacity development for the design, development and implementation of competency oriented training courses through curricula development. Furthermore, training delivery and compilation of instructional material; training and assessment review and revision; and implementation of the training model facilitating replications of the training Dcourses in other Don BOSCO institutions across the country are also catered to.
