BOSCO: Bosco Organization for Social Concern and Operation, (a non-profit, non-political, non-religious body registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860)

ORIGIN: BOSCO came into being as response to variety of social activities undertaken at various centers of North India in 1999 and received its legal identity in 2002.

EVOLUTION: Initially a small office was set up at Najafgarh in collaboration with DB-DOC Calcutta.

2001 - BOSCO started functioning independently with the support of full time staff.
2002 – Bosco-Delhi got the status of a registered society under Societies Regulation Act of 1860.
2003 – Bosco-Delhi started functioning from its new office at Don Bosco Provincial House, Okhla, New Delhi
2004 - Collaboration with GTZ, focused on the development of competency oriented modular short  term training courses at Don Bosco Yuva Kendra, Najafgrah. 
2005 - BOSCO initiated Livelihood porgammes at Najafgrah through the Out reach centres.
2006 - BOSCO with collaboration with DMOS COMIDE, introduced the progamme project in in Delhi, Up, Punjab, Jharkhand, Orrisa and Chattigrah
2008 - BOSCO coordinates the Don Bosco Tech India, a net work fof all the Don Bosco Institutions for skill Training in India with 10 regional headquarters in Guwhati, Dimapur, Kolkotta, Hyderabad, Chennai, Trichi, Bangalore, Panjim, Mumbai and New Delhi.

OBJECTIVES
  • To assist, promote, undertake charitable, social, educational (formal, non-formal) and humanitarian work irrespective of caste, community, religion, political affiliation or economic status, solely for the holistic and self-development of the weaker section of the society.
  • Planning and coordination of all initiatives according to the global strategies of the Salesian Province of Delhi.
  • Capacity building of the local communities and staff.
  • Methodological assistance-identification, planning, formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects at various levels.
  • Representing and defending the interests of the target groups.
  • Coordinating and integrating the development process in North Indian states in accordance with the regional strategies and priorities.
  • Net working with collaborators, funding agencies and other like-minded organizations and facilitating new initiatives.
