World AIDS Day celebration was celebrated on 1st December 2018 at the Vikas Puri Centre. The basic objective of the programme was to create awareness on HIV / AIDS among the target group. A total of 170 people (79 male and 91 female) attended the rally.
The preparation for the AIDS rally starts a week prior to the date of rally. Refugees along with Staffs are involved in preparing posters, placards, pictorial information, slogans on AIDS awareness and prevention measures. Visual boards and banners are prepared by students, youth members, refugees along with staffs. All work towards making the rally informative and meaningful towards the cause.
5 E-rickshaws were there and the participants formed equal groups and took the responsibility of each rickshaw. They prepared posters, banners and visual information that was put around the rickshaws covering it from all three sides thus, decorating it for the rally. The rally initiated with slogans being shouted loudly by the participants together. The rally route was finalised prior the programme to reach out to as much population possible. The participants made sure that the slogan reached out to the local community while they were walking the rally. The health team of BOSCO also distributed free condoms to the people during the rally. As per the records, 2160 condoms were distributed among the local population during the rally.Finally, the rally ended with refreshments being distributed to the participants.
