DAFI Scholarships

DAFI an Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative (Deutche Akademische Fluchtlings Initiative) is a German scholarship given to refugees in India for graduate courses in (Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Social Work, etc.). It's an initiative to protect refugees as equal opportunists with the Indian students. This initiative permits the refugee to gain an equal education in institutes like a normal student. The allotment for this sponsorship is a tiny fraction, which is based on various criteria that include: the socio-economic condition, academic knowledge, and determination of the candidate.  In 2013 there were 44 refugees that gained the benefit to this prestigious scholarship. The admission process to be selected for this scholarship involves the collection of the applications from its various centres, home visits to determine the socio-economic condition of the applicant, a detailed report to be sent to UNHCR, and an interview for the final selection. Those making it through the scrutiny are entitled to this scholarship.

We involve the DAFI scholars in organizing various sessions, presentations, and skill development activities. In these sessions, we bring to their notice about gender inequality, women in the community, politics, society domestic violence, choices of career, skill development, etc. We encourage them to participate in each of the individual activity to help them cope with their regular classes. These interactions help develop their personalities and attitude towards life and the society which proves them to be better individuals by the day.
