Don Bosco Health Center at New Delhi Railway Station

Don Bosco Health Center at New Delhi Railway Station

This Centre in Paharganj is located very close to the New Delhi Railway station.  The centre is situated around 100 metres from the main entry gate of New Delhi Railway Station. We consider this center as a pit stop for the poor, underprivileged street children. New Delhi Railway Station is the main Railway Station in the capital city. Therefore unfortunately, many children are found on the streets outside the station and the railway platforms. The children are genuinely free of any bonds to abide by, and behave in a reckless manner as no one is there to monitor or question their actions. They themselves are not concerned about their health aspects. There is no one to take care of them, to guide them or give any kind of support. They feed themselves by any means possible. In this process of struggle and survival, it happens that sometimes they die or suffer from major diseases or cuts and wounds due to lack of proper health care or guidance.

The place itself is not very convenient or suitable for dispensary purposes but it is still an alternative for the children, temporarily residing on the station platform or outside on the streets, who have spent a major chunk of their life begging, stealing and borrowing trying to exist in this world to the best of their knowledge. This center is very close to them and easily accessible. Over the time, the center has been known for its services to the poor and needy street children. As per the documented record, every year thousands of homeless street children get benefited from this Centre. Through medical facilities from our health centre they receive necessary medical assistance, attention, care and counseling.
